Environmental Safety Manager

Overview
POSITION TITLE: Environmental Safety Manager, or henceforth known as Maintenance Compliance Manager
GENERAL SUMMARY
The Maintenance Compliance Manager role is a unique blend of similar but diverse concepts. Similarity exist in that the role as maintenance manager will be to ensure that equipment and controls are properly maintained to optimize / maximize production efficiencies and uptime. Similarly, the role as compliance manager will be to ensure our company adheres to regulatory standards and in-house policies to ensure the safety and health of our employees, to avoid disruption to nonconformance and or regulatory interventions.
Just as the role is responsible for enforcing maintenance schedules, etc.; the Manager will be responsible for enforcing regulations in all aspects and levels of business. Manager will provide maintenance guidance and also provide guidance on environmental health and safety as well as provide guidance on regulatory compliance matters.
A great Maintenance Manager is focused on the upkeep and condition of equipment, controls, uptime and resulting operating efficiencies. Likewise, a great Compliance Manager is well-versed in regulatory guidelines and safety management system best practices. Both require the person to be results oriented, of high ethical standards and both work diligently to complete their duties keeping in mind the objectives of the business.
In this role, the Manager must be highly perceptive and methodical. The ability to communicate effectively and present your plans and processes in a plausible way.
Responsibilities
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position will be responsible for the leadership, direction, coordination and performance of all assigned maintenance and facility support activities.
This includes "Key Concepts Safety Management System" program leadership, customer relations, employee development, staffing, policy implementation / enforcement, budget preparation and cost control.
Assists workers and participates in diagnosing and fixing malfunctions in machinery and equipment.
Leads and assists workers engaged in dismantling, assembling, and installing industrial machinery to include disposal of refuse, cardboard
On call 24/7 to assist with any maintenance, facility or EH&S issues-concerns.
Oversee all maintenance requests or needs for building and grounds
Responsible for conveyance system, it's preventative maintenance, cleanliness and mechanical integrity
Developing risk management controls and contingency plans for both maintenance and Environmental Health and Safety
Assist with the maintenance of safety records for employees and equipment
Communicating recommendations to management
Maintains accurate reporting of all chemicals, storage, documentation and SDS.
Conduct assessments to define and analyze possible risks related to Maintenance and Environmental Health & Safety related activities
Evaluate the gravity of each risk by considering its consequences
Ensures applicable training, certifications, etc. for all employees
Audit all maintenance and EH&S related processes and procedures
Design processes to eliminate or mitigate potential safety and or maintenance related risks
Evaluate existing policies and procedures to identify and correct weaknesses/deficits
Prepare maintenance and safety and health accident reduction reports and present recommendations to management
Facilitate the implementation maintenance and EHS related improvement plans, processes, procedures and policies ?
Using the company EH&S and maintenance tools, evaluate risk associated with equipment and controls as well as employees' risk awareness
Train maintenance team, supervisors and managers when necessary to measure, improve and maintain processes
Prepare reports for senior management and external regulatory bodies as appropriate
Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules.
Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product distribution.
Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department, and/or work crew.
QualificationsQUALIFICATIONS AND GUIDELINES
EXPERIENCE/TRAINING/EDUCATION:
A Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Maintenance, Engineering, Safety Management or related field.
A minimum of 5 years of experience with increasing responsibilities managing continuous process improvement responsibilities, projects and experience in supervision, planning and scheduling.
Minimum of 5 years of distribution or supply chain experience.
Strong planning, organization and analytical skills
Strong regulatory compliance skills and experience
Experience developing and implementing inspection/compliance reporting tools.
Knowledge of utilities including but not limited to Elec., Plumbing, HVAC, Material Handling Equipment.
Knowledge of and experience in facilities utilizing conveyer systems.
Ability to be On-Call Mon-Friday 24/7
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Access)
ACCREDITATION:
Membership and demonstrated active participation in industry related professional organizations (Society For Maintenance and Reliability Professionals (SMRP), American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE), (Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA), etc. with applicable professional certification is desired.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages and volume. Ability to add, subtracts, multiply, and divides in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret graphs.
REASONING ABILITY: This position requires the ability to define problems collects data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to follow/implement established management systems along with the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Strong understanding of supply chain activities, particularly manufacturing and logistics
Must have excellent interpersonal skills to effectively work / influence business decisions on a cross-functional basis
Must have excellent communication skills / both formal and informal
Must possess exceptionally strong analytical and modeling skills for problem solving and decision making
Conduct feasibility studies: identify issues, define scope, gather essential data, model and analyze the activity and its financial metrics, develop recommendations, present results
Must possess continuous improvement mindset

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
